Is Revenge Porn Going Too Far? – Reactions From The Streets of NYC

Unless you have been somewhere with no Internet access, you are aware that Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna have been butting heads on social media about Chyna’s alleged cheating. Rob took it the extra petty, butt-hurt level and proceeded to leak her nudes.

This is the mother of your daughter and the woman you were engaged to. What are you thinking Rob? Why would you release something so distasteful on social media?

We get you’re hurt but this is simply not going to make you feel better.

Aside from the pain not disappearing, leaking someone’s nudes without their consent is considered revenge porn. It can result in jail time, especially in the state of California where both Rob and Chyna reside.

Yup, that’s right. The law prevents people like Rob from using sexually explicit material to blackmail anyone into performing other sex acts, to coerce them into continuing the relationship, or to punish them for ending the relationship.

“Regardless of how the relationship ended or how deeply he feels she hurt him, nothing or no one should make you resort to revenge porn. What’s even more disturbing is the comments from others justifying his behavior. Once upon a time he claimed to love her and she birthed his only child. You don’t do that to someone that you love,” Stephanie Penn said.

Chyna isn’t the first woman to deal with this kind of behavior from a scorned, immature ex. I’m also pretty sure she won’t be the last. The only difference is there are more eyes on Chyna than it would be for someone who isn’t famous but there is no question of the lasting effects this exposure has.

Now was Chyna wrong for the part she played in all of this? Sure. But that doesn’t give Rob the right to cross that line and do what he did. It’s simply wrong. If we are romantically involved anything I choose to share with you should stay between the two of us – whether we end on a good note or not.

So, this isn’t just about Chyna. This is about all the women who have fallen victim to a man’s ego being so bruised that he shares sexually explicit pictures that were meant for his eyes only.

We took to the streets to get reactions from some fellow New Yorkers. Check it out below.

“I personally wouldn’t do it but can you blame Rob? He was embarrassed in front of the whole world. This is going to sound messed up but he basically paid for her body, so he can do whatever he wants with those pictures,” Aaron Valez, 19 said.

“They’re both dumb. I don’t know why we’re wasting time discussing them when this is all probably just a publicity stunt the Kardashians have concocted for something they have coming out,” Khalil England, 22 said.

“I’ve actually had pictures I shared with someone leaked on Instagram by my ex who was mad I moved on. I never knew there was a name for it until now. Thinking about it I should go back and sue his ass but he’s broke so,” Dominique Price, 22 said.

“I never knew there was a name for people posting other people’s nudes on social platforms. This has never happened to me but I’m glad to know that if it did there is some legal action that I could take,” Tatiana Alexa, 27 said.

“It’s a form of bullying. It’s immature. I don’t care how mad you get at someone, you never share something that intimate they chose to share with you. It’s like, grow up already and stop acting like a child,” Christopher Powers, 25 said.
