Ladies, there’s nothing quite like that first time. Specifically, that first time experiencing hot wax drip on any surface of your body – whether it be the brow, upper lip, arm pit, or lower body – and experiencing the sensation of that thin piece of paper tear upwards.
If you just shuffled in your seat a bit, yeah, we’ve all been there.
It’s certainly not a favorite part of my feminine maintenance, in fact, I prefer to thread – equally as painful – my eyebrows versus wax. But the results of waxing are simply addictive thus, beauty is pain principle applies.
Who knew that a woman’s less favorite beauty regimen could create a diverse line of clothing and soon-to-be-released beauty products? Well, New York native Jacqueline Barimah decided to take a random interest in waxing and make it an unforeseen business aptly titled, Waxual.
“One day I walked into the beauty supply store with my mom and I convinced her to buy me a wax kit out of nowhere. I’m one of those random people that’ll try a whole bunch of stuff on my own so I can get good at it,” Jacqueline explained.
The Temple University alumna graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Finance, and like many millennials, her degree is in her back pocket while she provides waxing services at her in-home studio.
Check out our full Q&A with the wax specialist on why she started a line of apparel to help promote waxing and what is on the horizon for her on the following page. Also, for those in the New York City area, Jacqueline is teaming up with apparel line King Mom for an afterwork mixer at Bakere Lounge.
