Shondaland is adding another series to your DVR, with the help of New York Times Best Selling author Luvvie Ajayi.
The two are creating a cable web series based on Ajayi’s debut book I’m Judging You: The Do Better Manual, featuring some not-so family friendly content.
Yes, she’s judging herself and us but she’s also here to help. In an interview on Facebook Live, she told HuffPost that she wants, “people to walk away from this book understanding that you always have some type of way to do better.”
Chapters in the book include “When Baehood Goes Bad,” and “Your Facebook Is My Favorite Soap Opera.”
Known by the New York Times as the Internet’s Newest Comic Phenom, Luvvie Ajayi is also the first writer to speak to a sold-out crowd at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture.
According to Deadline, Rhimes was exposed to Ajayi through her thoughtful pieces on everything from fashion to music to weekly Scandal recaps on her blog AwesomelyLuvvie.com, created in 2003. Rhimes was nominated last year for Entertainer of the Year at the NAACP Image awards.
The project is Shonda Rhimes way of incorporating comedy into her Shondaland’s deal at ABC Productions, which is different from her melodramatic shows Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy and my personal favorite, How to Get Away With Murder.
Catch up on the book here if you have not yet gotten yourself a copy. I’m all here for this #blackgirlmagic collaboration – present day black history being made.
