Interview: Too Who Talks New Mixtape 'My Last Good Summer,' And Lyricism

Anyone with an Instagram or Vine can be a rapper. It takes a good hook, maybe even a two-step – where is the value in metaphors and word play these days? For up and coming artists, trusting their talent while going against what’s popular comes with the independent territory.

For Brooklyn bred, Long Island raised rhymer, Too Who, doing the work to capture fans without compromising his music to follow trends is worth it; even if that prolongs his road to success.

“I’m not aiming to be trendy, I want to be here for the long haul. If I can develop a true fan base through that then I can’t lose,” Too Who, born Anthony Williams, said.

Standing at a solid six feet, the budding rap star looks nothing like your favorite rapper. Sporting an early baldy, clean cut, and New York swag, his demeanor is quiet until he touches the mic.

“People really can appreciate the word play, soul, the message, the theme rather than just turn up,” he said.

Walking to the beat of his own drum is easy with the support of his very musical family. His father, a creative, former rhymer and DJ, and four sisters who all hit falsettos in harmony against the backbone of his mother fosters his creative drive to push forward.

“I love my parents to the death. They’re in my corner 100%,” he said.
